What enterprise software actually means
Enterprise software runs a company's operational processes — ERP, CRM, HRMS, intranet portal, internal tool. It rarely serves a single user; it works with role-bearing teams.
These systems must scale with the business. 50 users in year one, 500 by year three, 5,000 by year five. Scalability comes from design — it can't be bolted on later.
Multi-tenant and data isolation
Enterprise software typically serves multiple departments, branches, or clients. Multi-tenant architecture isolates each one's data fully. Postgres row-level security (RLS) or Prisma middleware enforces this from the start.
RBAC defined per page and per API endpoint — what tenant the user belongs to, what role they have, which actions are allowed. Permissions live as a clean checklist instead of hidden rules.
Compliance, audit log, and security
Enterprise software often demands GDPR, KVKK, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS compliance. Audit log per critical action (who, when, what changed) is mandatory. Encryption at rest (database) + encryption in transit (HTTPS, mTLS) is standard.
