What Is E-Invoice?
Definition
E-invoice (e-fatura) is a legally valid electronic document issued in the standard XML format specified by Turkey's Revenue Administration (GİB), transmitted through the GİB system to the recipient. It replaces paper invoices and is mandatory based on annual turnover.

Turkey's e-invoice system launched in 2012; mandatory scope has expanded rapidly since 2020. As of 2026, all taxpayers whose gross sales revenue exceeds 3 million TL are required to use e-invoice and e-archive invoice. E-commerce platforms and certain sectors (logistics, healthcare, steel) have mandatory e-invoice requirements regardless of the threshold.
E-invoice comes in two main forms: (1) GİB Central System (EDDS) — issued free of charge through GİB's own portal, but automation is limited. (2) Private Integrator — companies like Foriba, Paraşüt, Uyumsoft, Fincloud provide full integration with accounting/ERP systems, enabling bulk and automated invoicing.
In software projects, e-invoice integration is typically implemented via a Private Integrator API (Foriba REST API, Paraşüt API). When an order is completed, the system automatically generates an e-invoice, submits it to GİB, and notifies the recipient. E-archive invoice is used for recipients who are not e-invoice taxpayers.
